HEAD OF SCHOOL UPDATE Melanie Woods
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to Term 4! We greatly appreciate how easily the students have glided into their school routines and settled in beautifully. There has been no time to worry about anything other than their commitment to learning and activities, all beginning on Monday with rigour.
We hope you have had a lovely holiday break and are feeling refreshed and ready for another exciting term! While many are feeling healthy after the break, there are still viruses, flus and whooping cough going around. Please see a health professional immediately if your child has any symptoms.
It’s common for students to feel anxious or have fears throughout their life. Please let your classroom teacher know if this is the case, as we have school counsellors working with our students everyday. They can help bring comfort, find truth and equip the students with skills to help them quell their worries.
For ALL correspondence for Primary Student Hub, please use the following email: primaryhubmp@acc.edu.au. You can continue to email teachers directly if it is a question for the class teacher.
UNIFORM
Please ensure that your child is wearing black leather lace up school shoes. Note that ‘Mary Jane’ style shoes for girls (with a buckle or velcro) are not aligned with the school uniform policy. We have also noticed Winter Blazers being worn with Summer Uniform Shorts - to better align with our uniform policy, please instead wear ACC School jumpers with the Summer Uniform (when wearing shorts). We also request that colourful sport shoes are avoided. Students need to wear predominantly white shoes - small extra colour features are acceptable.
SNAKE SAFETY SEMINAR
Last term our students were visited by a trainer with her dog, the students learnt about how to feel safe with dogs and pets in general. Another wonderful experience about animal safety was completed this week! We taught the students about ‘snake safety’. The weather is warming up and our students are required to know what to do when they see a snake. Mrs Clark worked wonderfully with all students from K-6 showing a presentation which provided sound understanding and equipped students with easy steps in knowing what to do. I trust your child shared some valuable information about what they learnt this week.
K-6 SWIM SCHOOL
This week all K-6 students have enjoyed their first week in Swim School. There are numerous reasons why swimming lessons are very important, it is even a part of the school curriculum. It is a lifelong skill, it’s fun and there are health benefits through keeping our students active. Increasing social skills, using teamwork and boosting confidence are all attributes that come from participating in swimming lessons. Please enjoy the photos of some of our students as they begin their swimming journey, we look forward to seeing their growth over the next term of Swim School!
PRIMARY 20/20 CRICKET DAY
On Wednesday some of our students travelled to Dural to take part in the Christian Schools Sports Association (CSSA) Cricket Competition. The sun was shining and they played their very best. We are always thrilled to hear that our students play to work on their skills, work as a team and enjoy their time together, they also get to know other students at local schools. Well done gentlemen!
GYMNASTICS NATIONAL CLUBS CARNIVAL
Chase Howison, from 4S recently had a trip to the Gold Coast to compete in the National Clubs Carnival for gymnastics. Chase represented his club Sydney Hills, in Level 3 for MAG (Men's Artistic Gymnastics).
His team came in 6th with Junior Squad achieving 2nd overall with Chase achieving some excellent results for rings and parallel bars. He had a great time away and looks forward to his next competition.
TERM 4 CLASS LETTERS
Your child’s teacher will email you an overview of what they are learning this term, including specific topics, important dates and other relevant information. Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher with any information, highlights or concerns. Your communications assist us with the day-to-day support of your children.
KINDER EXPERIENCE AND EXPLORE - 2025 KINDER ORIENTATION
One of our Primary School values is ‘Love and Nurture’. We believe it is critical that each child has opportunities to maximise their potential, in order to provide the key building blocks early, which will underpin their success.
As part of the Integration Program for our future Kindergarten 2025 students, we have designed four events and would ask that Kinder 2025 students attend each of them. Each event builds upon the previous one, bringing familiarity, relationship, community and learning.
Our desire is for your child to look forward to coming to school and feel they have already made connections with their peers, teaching staff and their new environment for the years to come.
We also desire that you, our parents, will make connections with other parents, with our staff, and with the Australian Christian College community at large.
