Elite Pursuits Program - 14 June 2024

Updated: Jun 14

THE OUT & ABOUT IN THE WORLD OF ELITE PURSUITS PROGRAM (EPP) Julie Kennedy

Tennis - Renee  At the beginning of Term 2, ACC Elite Pursuits Program (EPP) student Renee, travelled to Kazakhstan with the Australian Tennis Team.  Not only did she and the team qualify for the Billie Jean King Cup finals to be held in Spain later this year, they also took out the Asian Oceania Cup and were crowned Champions of Asia; an incredible achievement! According to Tennis Australia’s tournament report:

“Renee, a 15-year-old from New South Wales, was a standout performer for Australia, winning all of her 10 matches (six in singles and four in doubles)”.

Students In Copper Mountain, Colorado Two of our talented EPP Winter Sports athletes have been training and competing in Colorado USA recently, and sent us some photos to enjoy.

Tiffany is a Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G skier. This year she has competed in New Zealand, Canada and all across the United States. Tiffany’s best results so far this year have been at Loveland Ski where she placed 13th in Slalom. Fantastic results Tiffany - well done!

Georgia’s main disciplines are Giant Slalom, Slalom and Ski Cross. Over the US Winter, she competed in Aspen, Colorado and Winter Park, Colorado, completing all runs successfully. She achieved a personal best result internationally, placing 37th in Race 1 of the Slalom at Winter Park, Colorado.

She is hoping for a successful Australian season, having finished 2nd in Giant Slalom and 1st in Multiclass Giant Slalom at the NSW State Championships in 2023.

North West Equestrian Expo - Coonabarabran The North West Equestrian Expo was a wonderful event! Three of our talented EPP riders attended the Expo with their hard working horses, Joey, Pickles and Petal. Our three athletes competed across the Expo in Eventing, Cross Country, PoloCross, Working Horse Challenge and many more. Our ACC EPP athletes had some amazing results and ‘toughed out’ the somewhat tedious conditions across the Carnival. Year 12 student, Olivia, was able to secure 2nd place overall for Eventing, with some beautiful riding across the disciplines. I was proud to be there to watch the girls do what they love, and do it brilliantly!
