Distance Education Update - 3 May 2024

Read more to hear about our Cross Country and Student Achievements.

Primary Cross Country Carnival Janet Dawson

The rain held off (thank you Jesus) and excitement was in the air as students from On Campus and Distance Education (DE) gathered to compete in the 2024 Primary Cross Country event. Adrenaline was racing through veins as they stood on the starting line. Parents watched eagerly and nervous anticipation stirred everywhere.

DE students raced to the front of the pack in each of the races they entered. They paced themselves perfectly for the 2km and 3km races. They had steely determination to do well and their efforts paid off in the end. Two DE students came 1st in their age events and one student came in 3rd. They will now progress to the State Carnival - well done to all!

It was a great time of connection and reconnection for the students and their parents. It is always a great opportunity for the DE students to chat with their teachers as well.

Miss Dawson, Mrs Peisley and Mrs Mikirtoumov had a great time out on the oval watching the students race, as well as having the chance to chat with the families that came to support their children.

Thank you to everyone that came. We wish you well for the next level of competition.

Secondary Cross Country Carnival Sarah Woolaston

The Distance Education (DE) students who joined our Secondary Cross Country Carnival showed up full of courage and determination. It is no small thing to show up at an event where you have yet to meet anyone in attendance. We are blessed with a wonderfully positive school community of students who warmly welcomed them into the events of the day. New friendships were formed and our DE students and parents had the opportunity to meet some of their teachers in person.

The amazing efforts of our DE students resulted in each of them placing in the top 3 of their races. Well done to you all, we look forward to you representing ACC at the upcoming State Cross Country Carnival.

Community Art Competition Finalist Luke Reifler

One of our Year 9 DE students, Sean Feng recently shared some exciting news. Sean’s oil paint artwork, ‘Best Wishes for 2024’, was selected as a Finalist in the Mosman Youth Art Prize 2024, which is held in Mosman Art Gallery.

Sean’s artwork also has been selected to hang in the Mosman Audi showroom for a month after the Mosman Youth Art Prize concludes.

We pass our warm congratulations on to Sean for his efforts, achievement and recognition!
